American Disc Jockey Awards Show returns to the February 2003 Las Vegas Mobile Beat Convention
Las Vegas: August 2002
The American Disc Jockey Awards Show returns to the Mobile Beat DJ Conference after a three year hiatus. The announcement was made by Show Producer Ken Knotts, before the opening Seminar during Mobile Beat’s summer Convention in Chicago, Illinois on June 25, 2002. The Awards Show will be staged in the Tropicana Hotel Ballroom on the evening of February 17, 2003, which is the night before Mobile Beat’s winter show begins. The Awards Show is back this time in conjunction with the Mobile Beat Show. The Academy of Professional Disc Jockey Arts and Sciences will honor the nation’s top DJ’s for their outstanding work in a variety of categories, including “Best technical DJ”, “Best Country DJ”, “Best Club DJ”, “Best Karaoke Host” and several more “Special Awards”. Also, included in the Show is the cutting edge entertainment that is provided by the Industry’s leading DJ’s during the competition for “Entertainer of the Year”. The contestants must teach an original dance, play a new game or do a DJ related skit. $5,000.00 Cash Prize to the winner!
A new wrinkle to the Awards Show is the addition of a $5,000.00 cash prize going to the winner of the “Entertainer of the Year” competition. The competitors must perform their act in 5-7 minutes, they may use props if they desire and have up 3 “assistants” with them onstage. Everyone in attendance is given a ballot upon entrance to the Ballroom and the entire audience votes for the winner.
