• A great line that scares Brides away from iPod weddings...

I tell them that an iPod wedding consists of 3 or 4 of your friends standing around arguing over what song to play next while the dance floor empties. I can feel the blood drain from her face and she drops the idea of an iPod wedding. It works. Hope it works for you.

TOO bad. I would have loved reading it. A wedding is a most beautiful ceremony. It's appalling that a bride and groom would THINK of going this route. You may hear what you want but a DJ adds 'class' to your event. Not EVERYONE is a DJ. The majority of DJ's are good at what they do so why think you can 'save money' by having a few friends play Ipod. THEY can't have fun for their doing a job that most people think is a 'piece of cake.' It isn't.

Read the article. I could 'see' a disaster in the making. There's ALWAYS someone who wants to take charge. I cringed as I read about the guest who skipped the slow songs to "KEEP THE PARTY GOING." Slow songs are a MUST for it gives couples a chance to 'slow down' and enjoy each other. I could 'see' people at the bar waiting for a slow song. STICK WITH A DJ. The end result is well worth the cost.

I've been a disc jockey for 20 years and i've never witnesed an ipod wedding. I did this year and it was really disgusted. The couple forgot the cord that goes from the ipod to the speakers. i offered to get there speakers going ,I feel like i saved the day. it's so important to have a dj for a wedding.

My line - you aren't my target market. See YA!

OK, not that harsh but if they get through my website they aren't calling me as an alternative to an IPOD. That's how I see it. Guys that are charging under 695 bucks (I charge over double that most gigs) likely deal with it more often. I know it depends on the market but in Detroit Area - that would be an accurate number.

The IPOD Wedding doesn't remotely scare me. In fact I encourage more of them all the time it only makes more clear what a disaster that can be and why a good dj is so critical. SO I say more IPOD weddings are great for a pro dj's business.

When you leave a DJ booth open, there are those people in the world that think they are the DJ and will play what they want. I shouldn't have DJ'ed my own wedding, hence, leaving the DJ Booth open.

I-Pod, such a fine little personal listening device.

Tablets are where it's at now. I have a party mix app on my 7" Andriod that provides playlists, dual decks and an advanced auto mix with almost all my party / reception music on 42 gigs of solid state storage.

There will always be cheaper ways to do everything. But how prestigious can your reception be when you don't have a talented DJ selecting and mixing.

I just don't get it, but then it's mine (our) job to persuade someone we are talented and will provide personal service on one of the most important days in their life.

Speak up I-pod, I can't hear you making the same promises ... lol

I have accomplished a fair amount in my career. I am generally regarded as being fairly knowledgeable in many circles. However, I don't consider myself particularly smart. I am constantly surrounded by people that know way more than me on topics that interest me. In fact, I consider my greatest...

Hey friends, I bought this guy a couple months ago ($99 marked down $29). I originally bought it because I was looking for a way to take stereo input to a balanced/summed mono output (so I could use a single evox speaker at smaller events.) Yesterday I had a gig, neat place but really...

It's been just about 1 1/2 years since I hung up the headphones and retired, so I thought I'd stop by to say hello to everyone. Life has been a whirlwind since retiring at the end of 2015. I spent most of 2016 taking care of medical and mental problems, and that seems to be the case for 2017. ...

Hey friends, just wanted to post a fix that may help someone in the future. I love having a 50 inch monitor up during my events. I ask the client for photos to show (real handy while waiting for the B&G to return from photo sessions), I also put up monograms, etc. Later in the night,...
