    1. Like wise for us Djs, we need to keep adding new fads (thing of the year) so people will pay for it before it fades out.

    2) It's so easy to get information on the internet... ultimately, playing with gear on your own is the best way to create an impression. But, I can watch review videos from DJ City or a couple other folks I trust and have a really good idea of whether something is for me or not.
That, and the influx of new DJs is very low.

In 2012, I noticed A LOT of hobbyists, and newbies walking through the doors at the Expo. In 2013, there were less, but it was still a big crowd. 2014, there seemed to be less people attending, 2015 about the same...This year it declined again.

A few reasons. Most of the older DJs out there who have gone to the expo numerous times over the years are starting to fade away as they slow their careers down, and start to retire. The newbies that went a few years ago are either out of the business now, or just not attending since they already went.

This year was certainly the lowest turn out compared to the last 5 years I have gone.

Also, another issue is that there isn't much real innovation going on these last few years. In 2012 and 2013 there were some new tech gadgets that came out. Wireless Up Lighting was new and that was fairly big. Many newer Speaker line ups. This year, not so much. Some new effects that are blah for the most part.

After the first 15 Expos attended (I think it's 22 of them now), it was no longer the seminars or the expo hall. It's the people. For me it's become and shall remain a family reunion. Next year I'm going set up a gathering for forum folks; a place to put a real face; a real body, to the pseudonyms.

This year, Heather & Joey Staniszewski greets me at the Expo check-in with 1.5 oz bottle of CHILLED Absolut. Is that family or what? I regret I missed seeing so many. Gotta get better organized in the future.

Steep price, but if you throw in some uplights, you're hired.
